When "The Closer" came to a close, doors opened for the detectives in the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes Division, with the biggest opportunity presented to Capt. Sharon Raydor. The captain is now the boss, taking over a department that hasn't forgotten her history of internal investigations targeting them and their former boss, Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. As Raydor attempts to mend fences and gain the trust and confidence of her detectives -- her biggest foe in that regard is Lt. Provenza -- she leads a unit that works more closely than Johnson ever did with other police and prosecutors to build airtight cases.
After a shootout in a tow yard leaves three people dead, Major Crimes sets out to find a disturbed man with a bag full of guns; Rusty tries to find more evidence related to the murder of Buzz's father and uncle.
Andy Flynn and Mike Tao investigate the mysterious overdose of a young Hollywood star; Rusty decides how to handle the pregnancy of his biological mother.
The squad searches for answers when a young runaway is found murdered in a trash can; Raydor consults her husband about a proposition that she has for Rusty.
The team joins forces with the Special Operations Bureau when an elderly couple is shot in their home; a killer prowls Los Angeles taking hostages along the way.
